Field Trip

We (Mr. Greninger) are (is) preparing for the fourth grade field trip. There are many details to be worked out, including the exact amount. For families who need to budget and plan around the date, this is the basic details (subject to change without notice):

Field Trip: Science Museum of Minnesota
includes: visiting Science Museum of MN exhibits and Omni Theater movie, Tornado Alley
When: Friday April 26, 8:05 AM - 2:55 PM
Cost: $15-20 (exact amount is not known at this time)
Lunch: send a disposable, bagged lunch
Chaperones: in the past, 2-3 per class (the Science Museum's recommendation), actual chaperones determined by teacher (based on individual student needs, like the need for a para, health concerns, etc.); usually not discussed or determined until the four weeks prior to the field trip

In the past, we have tried to be respectful to family budgets, by planning field trips to see dramatic performances in St. Cloud or a movie in St. Cloud. In the end, with the costs of transportation, and entrance fees, families were still paying about $10. When we surveyed students and families, the feedback indicated families were willing to pay for the Science Museum of Minnesota experience. We also like the educational opportunities, connections, and extensions we can make to our every day learning.

Please do NOT send any money, permission slips, or notes of interest regarding chaperones (so everyone interested has the same opportunity). There will be a "scholarship" opportunity for families who are able to donate and for families who need help with the cost. This information is shared to continue open communication with families and to offer families the opportunity to plan.
