We started by carefully labeling the two texts we are using. One packet is the "NE Info" packet. The other packet is the "NE Questions". Ms. Leom modeled how to organize our learning on our work space.
Next, we read through the questions and underlined key words and phrases, so our brains knew what to look for as we read the text.
Together, we read the text.
Ms. Leom modeled how the clearly use the materials, going over the first seven questions together in class, over two days.
When she was satisfied that we understood the expectations and the quality level, she is having us work in pairs to complete our learning. There was a clear list on the front board about what we are doing in class:
