One of the many highlights I appreciate about Milaca Elementary is our students' access to ART education. Ms. Peterson is our art teacher in fourth grade. I am thankful everyday for the opportunities she provides for our students. Often times, people mistake this important learning area as "crafts and projects". At Milaca, our Art curriculum is well defined and detailed. There are many ways, I see our Art learning applied throughout the day, as well as hear students make related connections between their Art vocabulary and other academic studies. Words such as "line", "color", "perspective", "shading", "tint", and more are often used.
Recently, our students finished up a unit on weaving. A bonus to our Art curriculum, is seeing students' pride as they accomplish various Art objectives and have the chance to showcase their skills. Here are four students who were excited to share their hard work, and I couldn't resist capturing their art.
