Making Connections

One of the MOST FAVORITE parts of reading - according to Ms. Leom - is when you are reading a book ... in this case, out loud to the class, and mirroring it on the CleverTouch board ...

and a term that you recognize a word part from a previous recent discussion in class is part of your book!!!!

Just this week, we are learning about the four different types of sentences. Sure we could do worksheets and practice ... and there is some benefits and skills within worksheets ... or we could make this colorful poster that has flaps, and is active and eye catching ... (not too hard to tell which one Ms. Leom prefers ...) It is all just So eXcItInG!!

In our discussion about the four types of sentences, one topic was interrogative sentences, sentences where you ask questions.

So we are reading a book that uses the word, "interrogating", and we could KNOW what the word means, because it was what we talked about IN CLASS!!!

You might have "had to be there", but it was really exciting for all who were present.

That is one of the joys we are developing in class, when what we are learning about is applicable and can be found with the enjoyment of "just reading a book".

Can't wait to see our fourth grade students "make connections" as they read!! Reading is such an exciting adventure!!
