OREO!

Although my heart is heavy with recent events, and my mind would like to have the time to process, Room E113 is filled with fourth grade students who need our routine and have a desire to learn. So to add a little *sparkle* in a day, where I feel less than my usual best, I pulled out a lesson that I have been saving for just the right time.

Mr. Greninger and Ms. Leom's students worked on writing process and using transitions today. FIRST, students ate an Oreo cookie. NEXT, they wrote about the steps they take to eat their Oreo Cookies. THEN, we talked about the parts of a paragraph and developed our thinking to make our writing into a paragraph. AFTER THAT, we edited. FINALLY, we worked on a final draft. Later this week, when all students have the necessary time to successfully complete their final drafts, our writing will be randomly shared in class. FOLLOWING THIS, a classmate will read our Oreo Cookie eating steps. LAST OF ALL, the student will eat a second Oreo cookie following our directions. UNDOUBTEDLY, just another "sweet" learning opportunity in fourth grade!
