Candy for the Mind

It was Ms. Leom's birthday. She brought "candy for our minds" to celebrate. Every student was invited to select a new pencil and an eraser.

Rollerskating Reward

On Friday, Ms. Hakes-Anderson had an EPIC idea! What if for our reward (the original idea not to be mentioned, because we might still use it on another ocassion), we were to make use of the last day of the rollerskating rental at school ... ? Parents had already paid for student use, why not get another round from their payment?! We had to move around our schedule a little bit, but it was worth it!

I took a lot of pictures, but the lighting was less than idea for clarity. The music was pumping, the lighting was perfect, and the obstacles were out for fun! We had a fun afternoon!

Making a Difference

When we left school one day this week, this was on my vehicle (and something similar on the neighboring cars).

A profound reminder that it is the little things that matter.

Food Pantry

Last week, we had the collection for the Food Pantry. We had perfect timing to catch part of the collection:

So thankful for the generosity and participation of our families!

Rocking Our Socks

Ms. Leom's Class started our day by "standing up" and showing off our socks. We are Rocking Our Socks for Down Syndrome Awareness Day. It is the Wolves Way.

Monday Morning

On Monday mornings, we try to take time to connect as a class ... we talk about our weekend or something coming up that we are excited about ... students also have the option to pass ...

Community building, time to talk, practicing our listening, time to get to know each other and what matters ... a Monday Morning.

PTO Carnival

The PTO Carnival was on Friday night ...

I had intentions to take pictures of all of my students I saw there ...

Then I was distracted by my mom role, and I didn't take out my camera again.

Love this local, community event!!!

Leprechauns

Leprechauns visited at the end of the day on Friday afternoon ... shenanigans were part of the fun ...

Second, Milaca Schools has proposed a new bond referendum. There were some familiar faces in the information.

If you would like to learn more about the proposed referendum, please check out this link: Milaca Referendum Information. Our superintendent, Mr. Truebenbach (982-7191), our buildings and grounds supervisor, Mr. Sumner (982-7174) and members of the school board have all extended an invitation to contact them with questions or comments.

The school also has a new Talk to Us feature on the website:

Line Basics

When there are over 1800 students in your school building, there are some basic expectations to keep everyone safe, including using line basics.

We are looking good!!

Time to Talk

Talking and sharing is IMPORTANT!! We make time to talk often. On this day, after Independent Reading, students were asked to think about their book, the author's purpose, evidence, and share what they are enjoying about their book ...

We take time to talk about the important topics to us ...

Midwest State Project Posters

Students have worked on their Midwest State Project Posters ...

Music in Our Schools

On Monday March 5th, school was cancelled for a snow day. The Music in Our Schools Concert was rescheduled for Monday March 12th. Well worth the extra wait!

I Love to Read Pepfest!

February is National I Love to Read Month. It is probably the only recognized in school settings, and here in Milaca, it is a BIG deal! It begins and ends with a school-wide pepfest.

Our very own band, Frost Bite performs ... not many schools can boast their principal can plan drums!!

We had some cheers ...

Principal Voshell spoke ...

We had a relay contest ... the top readers in every grade represented ...

SO Proud and EXCITING to be represented by one of our own!!! She appears to have track star abilities!!
