Packing

We are packing up for the big move ...

Ms. Leom is finishing up 21 years of teaching. She has taught in four classrooms in the third-fourth grade hallways, with the last fifteen years spent in her current room.
Over eight boxes ready to be loaded ...
Friday morning, the pallets arrived, ready to begin ...

Noon ...

So much more work to go ... here is a sneak peak of our start.

Friends

The part of being in a classroom, you are more than friends, for one year, you are a family. It means that somedays you get along fabulously, and other days, you need to work at it. Today, we went outside and took a class picture (only missing one absent student). Then Ms. Leom took pictures of the different friend combinations that students were interested in having taken.

It is good to have friends.

Shaving Cream Take Two

I try to make sure what I do for one class, I make an effort for the same opportunity for the second class. On Friday morning, shaving cream fun was on the schedule.

It is a joy to watch students and how they respond with the tactile opportunity of shaving cream. I loved the volume, controlled chaos, laughter, discussions, and just play time. I wish we could do more of this in school, because it matters, it is important, and I miss it.

Pizza Party

During the last Heggies Pizza fundraiser, Ms. Leom's class sold over 200 pizzas to qualify for a pizza party. We scheduled it for Thursday May 25th. What a great way to share lunch together!

It is a bonus that we lowered our cost for our sixth grade class trip to Deep Portage!

Shaving Cream

"Back in the day", Ms. Leom had "Fun Spelling" one day a week. We would spell our words with peel and pull licorice, water color paints, play games, and practice using shaving cream. As we are emptying every nook and crany of the classrooms spaces, Ms. Leom found some cans of shaving cream that were screaming for students to use.

Some clean fun ... noise, silliness, and chaos is welcome here.

New Books

This morning, Ms. Leom invited her students to select a new book to read over summer.

Happy Reading!

Senior Send-Off

This morning, the five minute warning came on announcements. We lined up in the hallway. Then the  the one minute announcement happened. Soon, the song, "Celebration" filled the air, and the Class of 2017 walked the hallways.

Congratulations to all of the graduates! We are SO PROUD!!

(Disclaimer ... Ms. Leom was trying to take pictures and high five the graduates as they passed, and she was feeling a "little" emotional as her alumni walked by ... some pictures were too blurry from her must-tasking ... these were the best shots!)
