Next Year

In the 2019-2020 school year, Ms. Leom is excited to return to her third grade roots. When Ms. Leom was hired, she was a third grade teacher at Milaca Elementary. There were two rounds of looping, and Ms. Leom found herself in fourth grade for the next eighteen years. With some budget considerations, fourth grade is moving from six to five sections. Ms. Leom is thrilled to join third grade and learn from some of the BEST teachers in our school, Mrs. Meixell, Ms. Koenig, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Lepper! Mrs. Hass will be in a supportive role for academic interventions. It is going to be a great move! See you in third grade!!

Tradition

We have a tradition on the last day of school at Milaca Elementary. The teachers and staff line up at the entrance to the school and wave good bye to all of the buses.

It is our send off for students, wishing them a safe and enjoyable summer. Until we meet again! Tradition.

Lasting Memories

On the last day of school, Ms. Leom traditionally takes her homeroom students outside and captures pictures of the entire group. With the rain this year, we took pictures inside. Ms. Leom also offers to take pictures of any pairs, triads, or small groups as decided by students. There were one or two students who weren't as enthused about picture taking ... everyone had someone who invited them to participate in extra pictures.

We are making lasting memories of our last day of fourth grade.

10,000 Minutes Club

Four more students were inducted into the 10,000 Minutes Club in 2019. So PROUD!

These students read for over 10,000 minutes at home during the fourth grade school year! Congratulations!!

Egg Drop

For the twenty-three years Ms. Leom has worked at Milaca Elementary, the egg drop has been a tradition. In 2019, the egg drop is a scientific investigation where fifth grade students are challenged to build a contraption of some sort to protect a raw egg dropped from the roof of the officials box of the football field. Luckily, fourth graders are invited to watch and make plans for their opportunity next year.

What would you do to keep an egg safe?
