Figurative Language

In Writing for the past few weeks, we have been learning about different types of Figurative Language: similes, metaphors, idioms, and more.

Students have been working on a Figurative Language Packet, writing and illustrating an example of each type. We focused on a page a day, with extra work time as needed. The learning was loaded on Google Classroom, so students could access the information, links, and videos as needed to be successful.

We wrapped up our learning by completing Figurative Language Posters. Students were given packets with five pages. The pink page has the terms. The yellow page was the definitions, and there were three blue pages of examples. Students could set up their poster in any direction and determine how they wanted to arrange their information. They could use their notes, Google Classroom, and other sources to work on their posters. Students were encouraged to talk with each other to help support the different questions and share ideas. Ms. Leom walked around the room and gave feedback as well.

It was a fun way to wrap up our learning!
