Types of Sentences

In fourth grade, one of our Language Arts skills is identifying Types of Sentences. These include: declarative (tell something), imperative (gives a command), interrogative (asks a question), and exclamatory (shows strong feeling). Today, students started with the materials to make a poster.
Next, students assembled their posters.

They were engaged









Then, we watched a video clip about the sentences.

Finally, we wrote our own examples.

It was fun to see their examples!









Ms. Leom (with a LOT of help from our high school helper, Hannah), is posting our results in the hallways.

Now we will begin applying our learning. Students will be labeling our sentences we edit on our morning work, Daily Language. After 30 weeks of practice (the end of the year), students will be very comfortable in four types of sentences.
