With our swimming reward last Friday and no school this coming Friday, Mrs. Stuckmayer and Ms. Leom made arrangements for our Reading Buddies to meet. Monday was the day. We also decided it was time for a partner activity. Kindergarteners are developing their graphing skills, and we had a role to help them practice and develop their skills.
Mrs. Stuckmayer welcomes us as she is explaining the expectations to the kindergarteners.
Mrs. Stuckmayers partners up the students. There are different students absent, so the partners might shift each week.
Students grab "math trays", a cup of jellybeans, a sorting paper, a graphing paper, and their pencil boxes. Then the partners found a place to work.
There were specific directions. Only fourth graders were allowed to touch the jellybeans, since they would be eating the jellybeans in the cups. The kindergarten buddies were able to direct the sorting.
The pink and red jellybeans needing some comparing and contrasting to determine which was which. There were some great conversations as the buddies figured out the best options.
The students were very engaged and serious in their activity.
As we finished up, the kindergarten buddies were able to grab their own cups of jellybeans. The buddies looked over their learning, ate their jellybeans, and talked. It was a fun time together!
