Some days, you show up, giving your best. Yet, you might have your shirt inside out, backwards, your zipper down, or in a first for Ms. Leom ...
... two different shoes. It wasn't planned. It became our Olweus lesson. Sometimes your best can be embarrassing. When you are part of a community, when you belong, people care, and they pull you aside and let you know. We talked about how sometimes people are being friends when they remind us about the expectations ... when we are talking in line, can't keep our hands to ourselves ... and in her effort to model, Ms. Leom put her arm around a student, and in clutzy fashion that comes naturally to her, she spilled the students milk! Another reason why keeping your hands to yourself is important! Sometimes you have sincere intentions, and things go wrong. Even Ms. Leom's "best" efforts depend on belonging, being accepted for her best efforts each day, and we extend this for each student in our classroom. We belong.
