P.I.E. Day

On November 30th, we had P.I.E. Day. Our learning is all about Author's Purpose. The three reasons authors write are to persuade, inform, and entertain = P.I.E.

This year, the kitchen made us apple, pumpkin, and peach pie.

Students read about the history of pumpkin pie ... inform ...

Then students were invited to taste-test pie ... entertain ... and taste, smell, feel / sensory learning ...

 

Students were invited to graph their favorite flavor:

 We took notes on our learning.

Then the learning was repeated for the other class ...

Students were invited to write a persuasive paragraph about their favorite kind of pie. Students who finished early were also invited to watch about Enemy Pie (see the link listed on the right to view.)

It was a fun day of learning.
