Something to Chew on

So this week is another fabulous week of learning in fourth grade! It seems like I post that repeatedly. It is easy to have this opinion, when I look forward to and enjoy each week of our on-going learning adventures!

This week, we are chewing on OREO cookies (insert 1980s song here). (I also sense another reoccurring theme ... food). Students are working on a week-long writing project to develop writing the steps in a process.

Today, we started with the prewriting. Students ate an OREO cookie and wrote down the four steps they use to eat their cookie. It was a quiet, thoughtful learning environment ...

Tomorrow, we will begin brainstorming a list of "transition words" and starting to move our basic list of steps into a paragraph with a topic sentence, using our transition words on our detail sentences, and a closing sentence.

We'll revise and edit before we start working our final draft and publishing.

Finally ... for now ... chew on these exciting details ... and stay tuned for the exciting ending to this week of learning!
