Odyssey

At Milaca Elementary, we want ALL of our students to be successful. We know our students are individuals, and we need to differentiate our teaching to meet the various learning needs. There are many "tools" we use to meet individual student needs; including, how we structure our school day (flex, after school tutoring, additional services), how we use our staff, and the materials we use.

One resource we have used is the on-line program, Study Island. It is time for us to re-evaluate our curriculum. There are several on-line supplemental learning opportunities available, and our school is investigating these options.

Ms. Leom's class will be joining Mrs. Juntunen's second grade class to trial the Odyssey on-line program. We have a short-term trial license. We will use the lap top computers in the classroom, or visit the computer lab when they are unavailable to utilize this learning program. Ms. Leom is able to set up Odyssey to teach specific lessons that relate to our current classroom learning goals (compare and contrast, synonyms, mysteries). She is also able to select specific Common Core standards to work on. Our Odyssey learning is a work in progress, directly related to our learning. This is one learning adventure where Ms. Leom looks forward to learning alongside and from her students! Let the Odyssey begin!
