The iTest is a poster about what we need to do to be successful as we prepare for testing. Students are encouraged to hang it on their refrigerator or some place they post important papers as a reminder until after the Math MCA Test on April 20th.
Then we have been practicing our MCA Reading Skills. Ms. Leom read Alice Ramsey's Grand Adventure. We determined the main idea, the theme, and the author's purpose. We need the review.
Other practice opportunities include our work on the MCA Reading On-line Practice Test. We are going through the three sessions in class. Students had a day to practice on the laptops independently. Now, we are going through the sections as a class, modeling, discussing, and using the tools to take the practice test.
Students are also working on reviewing in other ways. We took a Spelling Reading Practice that we didn't get to complete in class, and we are using it for our practice.
We had specific reading strategies we were practicing, and we worked with pairs to go back to the text and develop our practice.
These are the fourth grade standards. Our strategy we are focusing on, "The student will understand what they read using a variety of strategies."
