Severe Weather

Although the weather outside looks rather winter-like ...

It is within normal for us to experience for us to experience severe weather this time of year. The following picture was shared this morning by Ms. Leom's best friend since elementary school. She lives in Oklahoma with her family.
Oklahoma - April 17, 2013
Today, despite the snowfall, we practiced our severe weather procedures.
Ms. Leom was very proud of her students. They remained in this uncomfortable position for awhile and were quiet. Our school learned the importance of quiet during severe weather a few years ago. During a real severe weather experience, we had parents contacting the office, wanting to pick up their students. With all the student energy, excitement, uncertainty, and talking, in addition to the thunder and rain made it difficult to hear the office contacting the individual classrooms.

Although it isn't necessary for today, we are reassured our students know what to do should severe weather happen during the school day.
