We have some amazing substitute teachers who are an important part of our daily learning experience. One challenge in teaching and knowing you are going to be absent, you can't guarantee that the teacher coming into the room has the background to use your version of the smart board, or even if you write the full routine, you can't be sure they will follow it. It is fun when students know, and if you give them the tools, they can successfully direct their learning. This is possible with our use of Google Classroom.

Ms. Leom was able to load the learning onto Google Classroom with the lesson, two links, directions, and an image of what the learning might look like once students begin.

Students opened the videos links and learned about verbs.

Then students were able to direct their own learning.

Ms. Leom did it for our beginning Verb lesson. She was available for questions and to clarify. Students know what to do on Thursday. They can access the lesson, go at their own pace, rematch as needed, and participate in their learning.
