Digits and Place Value

In Math, we are working on the basics, place value. To start, we had to share the meaning of the first word, digit.

We are working on the four ways you can write a number:

We can write numbers:
- in the number: 148
- in words: one hundred forty-eight
- in pictures: ▢ ⎢⎢⎢⎢◌◌◌◌◌◌◌◌
- in expanded form: 100 + 40 + 8

Our learning included writing money in pictures:
$13.52 = thirteen dollars and fifty-two cents = ▢▢▢⎢⎢⎢⎢⎢◌◌ = $10 + $3 + $0.50 + $0.02
$4.02 = four dollars and two cents = ▢▢▢▢◌◌,= $4 + $0.02

We also worked with numbers in the thousands.

We will continue to practice. Ms. Leom gets some of her BEST steps during Math as she moves from student to student to help with great questions!
