We have daily class meetings before our milk break. Each day, our class meetings have a different focus.
Mondays: Sharing about our weekend or what is coming up
Tuesdays: Social Emotional Learning including self care and strategies to support taking care of ourselves
Wednesday: Olweus Bully Prevention
Thursdays - Growth Mindset and the Power of Yet
Fridays - Student of the Week
Part of our social emotional learning is learning how to be flexible. Being flexible means being able to bend and adapt, or change, to situations. People who are inflexible often admire problems and watch to see people's reactions. It is not helpful. In our classroom, we will be flexible. This means we are problem solvers and helpers.
It worked out well, soon after our talk, there was a change to our schedule, and Mrs. Terhaar, a school psychologist and part of our social worker team came to talk to us. We appreciate how she is in our third grade hallway and another safe adult to help us.
