Article a Day

Ms. Leom knows the more students read, the more they succeed. She also knows students need more access to vocabulary and background knowledge. She is excited to begin with an article a day. We watched a short, two minute video

Benefits article a day:
1. builds background knowledge
2. builds vocabulary
3. builds reading stamina, reading longer

We started today.

Ms. Leom read the article with us. Then we wrote in our "Reading Response Journal" (composition notebook). After we read, recorded, we had a change to share our thinking.

The exciting part, when all of our iPad user agreements are turned in, we will be able to access the articles on our ipads, using Google Classroom, a private online classroom platform. This will save paper. An article a day, times twenty-three students is over 4,000 pages of paper in a school year, or eight reams of paper!

Reading is important. We make time for it every day.
