Energy
On Friday morning, our students came into class, overflowing with excitement, energy, and anticipation (once they realized there was a reward). Although the active, buzzing classroom is one I enjoy and appreciate, not all of our learners are able to be successful. One strategy I use in class when students are active is to turn out the class lights, invite students to sit back in their chairs or lay their heads on their desks, and take two minutes to daydream and think about something important to them. Once the room is quiet, and students have calmed their minds, they are often successful at focusing, and we can begin our learning.
