W.O.W.!!

Today we had our second White Out Wednesday (W.O.W.) and our kick-off event for our continued effort for a Bully-Free School. It was an event that will be remembered for years to come!

Shadow the Wolf greeted us as we arrived at the field

Three of the most respectful participants of the event!

Assistant Principal shoves his way into the front of the line and fifth grade teacher Mr. Follmuth is upset.
Then ... from out of the bright blue sky ... (literally) ... arrives Captain Olweus (aka sixth grade teacher and wrestling coach Mr. Vedders during the day) ... Seriously, a helicopter landed IN OUR SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELD AND CAPTAIN OLWEUS GOT OUT!!! (LOVE this school! LOVE my job!!)

Captain Olweus running to locate the bullying incident.
Live action!

Captain Olweus himself!
Captain Olweus quickly located the problem. He reminded us of our anti-bullying rules and he stood up for Mr. Follmuth! Kindness wins!

Then there was another situation! Two elementary teachers were called from the stand to take a stand and get involved. Fifth grade teacher Mr. Anderson and Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Forker were dispatched to the helicopter!!

Running into action!
They took off in the helicpoter to stop bullying!
Next, fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Hakes-Anderson spoke. She told us about the power of kindness being stronger than bullying. She encouraged us to fill the school with kindness.
Phy-Ed teacher, Mrs. Beckman oversaw the next activity. We were spelling out the letters W.O.W. (for White Out Wednesday) on the football field. The camera drone would take a picture of our efforts. We will have the picture printed and hang it with pride in our school.

It was an exciting day!! I am so proud to be a part of a staff and community that takes anti-bullying seriously and goes the extra mile to create a visual impact for my students (and own children). It is a proud day for the Milaca School and Community. Filling our community with kindness ... one act at a time!
