iPads

The iPads arrived at 2:30 on Friday afternoon for Mr. Greninger and Ms. Leom's classrooms. We moved our iPad cart to its new home in the back corner of the classroom, between the class library and the cubbies. We unlocked the cart, and students were able to remove their iPads. Ms. Loidolt, half-time Art teacher and half-time technology specialist, helped us log into our iPads. They all needed to be set up and updated. We put them back on the cart to finish the latest update and to charge over the weekend.

Ms. Leom explained the basic expectations. Students who are using the iPads or apps that are not part of the directions will not be given warnings or reminders. Their iPad will return to the cart for the rest of the school day. These are a learning TOOL, and entertainment purposes are a side benefit at approved times.

Students were surprised that the iPads were scratched and the cases were worn. The iPads we use were some of the first iPads distributed to the high school students when our school started a one-to-one technology initiative. We are SO THANKFUL that the decision makers agreed that we will benefit from the availability of technology for every student, especially being the youngest grade to have this opportunity, we welcomed the iPads. We hope our students see the value in taking care of the school owned materials when they receive newer items.
