Our (first) Afternoon

It was nacho day at lunch. Ms. Leom picked us up, and we made a quick stop at the bathroom

We had time to select books to read before lunch. After lunch, we returned to the room for independent reading time. Students will be posting the books they are reading in class.

We made a classroom poster about what Independent Reading (also called "Read to Self") looks like. We played around with the words until we found what best communicated what we wanted successful independent readers to look like. Ms. Leom typed it up as we discussed.

Ms.  Leom likes to break out our time sitting and listening and working. We walked down to the new mural by the office and took our class picture.

We had more work time on family posters while Ms. Leom took individual pictures of everyone in our classroom. These pictures will be used for our Student of the Week covers and other random projects throughout the school year.

We wrote in our planners. We write down everything. If we have it for homework, we circle it. If it is complete, we check it off.

We had a rushed snack break. There is so much to do on the first day of school! Then we went to Specials. We have Phy-Ed and Music the last hour of the school day.

What an amazing group of students! What a terrific start to our year!!
