Our Word Wall

Ms. Leom has participated in several professional development opportunities to improve as a literacy teacher. One of her workshops strongly promotes the use of a word wall. She spent several weeks thinking about this idea. It has been several years since she last had a word wall. What would it look like? What words would you include? Where would you post it? Fourth graders work with larger words, "geography" and "plate tectonics", so you need a wider space for these longer words. There were so many details to consider.

In addition, to literacy, Ms. Leom is developing her technology skills. She is investing some time to be better at using Google products, like gmail, goggle docs, Google Classroom, and today, google sheets. She thought she could create a Word Wall that invites all the students in her class to have editing abilities, making it student driven and interactive.

What makes it even better, Mr. Greninger could add his vocabulary words. Our key, at this point: red words are the interesting words that students generate and post in our classroom. The blue words are Social Studies vocabulary. The black words are the vocabulary words we practice in class, with the root portion underlined.

SO EXCITING!! Check out our Word Wall!
