Working Together

A great strategy for learning is to work with our peers. It gives us a chance to talk, to discuss, to listen, and to learn from each other. We also know that nine and ten year olds need to talk and to move. It is part of their development, and we work to be respectful to their needs.

On Friday, we read a longer biography, on Squanto. To start, we made a list of notes that we would write on a sticky note as we worked.

Then students, met with a partner and got started. As students read with partners, Ms. Leom monitored the groups and listened to discussions. She used her observations and the conversations to make a list of what she needed to reteach, teach, or develop yet. She also intervened in groups that needed more support. You will notice, students were invited to find a space to work. The only rules, they needed to stay in the classroom, and they couldn't work under tables.

We learn together in fourth grade.
