There are moments in education that are so EPIC, you couldn't plan them or make them better if you tried. Everything just comes together into one giant greatness, and you just stand back and watch the magic.

The story begins in October. We had Random Acts of Kindess every Tuesday. For one of our events, we learned about writing friendly letters, and we wrote to a hometown Milaca graduate who was experiencing Marine Bootcamp in San Diego.

Imagine our surprise and joy when he came to our school on VETERAN's DAY to thank US for our letters!!

Grant Garber graduated from Marine Bootcamp on Wednesday November 9th. Two days later, he walked into Milaca Elementary, and came to meet us!

Our letters arrived at a time when he needed them most. There were four envelopes one day, four the next, four more the following day, and each envelope was filled with a handful of letters. To know that there was a group of people from home, cheering you on,  it made a world of difference. To see this tall, distinguished man in a military uniform stand with us ... it was an Epic day.
