Our First Postcard

Ms. Leom's homeroom was excited to read our FIRST post card today!! It arrived from North Dakota! We looked at the parts of a postcard, a first for many students: the picture, the caption, a message, the address, the stamp, and the postmark. We had the student who received the post card share it with the class. SO EXCITING!!!

Then we learned about our map skill. For each postcard, Ms. Leom will introduce the state on the class map, while students will color in the state on the map in their folder. Because Ms. Leom is a learner herself, and appreciates the thinking of her classroom community of learners, she was THRILLED with the student suggestion that we should ADD the map TO the home folder!! So we pulled out our Spelling, used the holes as a guide for our map, and attached the map into our folder.



Now families can see the states we are collecting and help us make the connections for our RACE to collect the states!!!
