This week starts our eighth week of Spelling. Ms. Leom STILL goes into detail for EACH spelling assignment. She begins with the spelling pattern for the week. Then she has students clearly write the due date and "homework" on the top of the page, on both sides. We take notes on the homework, to help students key into the phonetic sounds. We model a word from each section. Students even have an extra minute to start.
Then we turn over the page and start again.
We model how to do each section.
1.) Read the word
2.) Find the pattern and label
3.) Follow the directions
Ms. Leom gives work time. She walks through any numbers that students think is frustrating or unclear "#3" on the Choose the Word this morning.
We STILL do this every week. Ms. Leom walks around the classroom and encourages students to participate and include the notes. She gives feedback.
Even when students turn in the assignment and have it returned, they may make corrections and return it.
Ms. Leom is STILL working hard for ALL students to be successful and learn. Is your fourth grader taking advantage of their opportunities?
