PIE Day

Today is affectionately known as PIE Day. Academically, it is all about "Author's Purpose", or why authors write.

It is a day where the learning is layered within fun activities, and students walk away thinking about eating different kinds of pie, chefs hats, and more, and don't really realize the author's purpose learning that is connected to their thoughts. It is such a powerful day of learning, sixth grade and high school teachers hear students refer to PIE day, and their ability to recall the three reasons that authors write. We should celebrate with eating pie!!

Our high school helper helped serve up pie

Please ask your child to tell you about the reasons authors write. As you watch movies, view plays, or read books, ask your fourth grader to tell you the author's purpose. In fourth grade at Milaca, we serve pie with our learning.
