Preparing Food Safely

This week, our learning is about making inferences and visualizing. For our CWR, Constructed Written Response, students need to write a paragraph that tells how they prepare food safely.

We read a text that talked about preparing food safely. It included information about rinsing your fruits and vegetables.

Ms. Leom modeled her examples for her prewriting in several ways. Her favorite, was a visualization of washing her recently purchased grapes. She placed some green grapes in a bag and rinsed them with water. Students couldn't really see the difference it made, until she filled a second bag with clean water. Against the white board, students were certain that washing grapes before you eat them was a good idea in safely preparing food.

Students were also commenting about how great it is to have "Science" during Reading. Just another moment in the life of class. :)
