We read the first book, D is for Democracy. Everyone was invited to selected a word from the alphabet of democracy terms and do some research. Ms. Leom put us on the dictionary app, and we looked up our words. For some students, they have people, like Dr. King. They would use the encyclopedia. She had links available.
Today was the day for our "final project". We are making one page for a class book.
These were the steps we needed to do. Interesting, there were students who wrote, "Word" and started copying everything Ms. Leom wrote on the board (the directions). We had to have a discussion of the difference between notes and directions.
It was a good day to realize that if you use your class time and do the steps, you will be successful. Students who were distracted by the iPad early in the learning struggled today. It was a short project. Students who followed directions and used their time had fifteen minutes to color and add lots of details or read on Epic, books about our government. Students who didn't use their time previously, quickly looked up the word and worked until the very end of class.
